Final Week Notes

Dancing with the Waco Stars is over...and Stephanie and I were extremely pleased with our performance.  We cannot thank those who supported us and the Family Abuse Center enough!  I hope to provide some more details but as of the Monday before the show we had over $11,000 in votes and ticket sales.  Not enough to win...but that just means FAC won all the more overall.  I think over $120,000 as of Monday totals.

I also hope to have video to share of our dance.  Yes, I will share...the goal met:  I am not ashamed (far from it).  Stephanie is a miracle worker.

In the meantime, a few final week photos and thoughts.

DRESS REHEARSAL:  Sunday was dress rehearsal at the Waco Hippodrome.  We had one run through of the routine.  It went well, but I slept very, very poorly that night running through every mistake in my mind.  Nerves suddenly as the event became very real!!!

HAIR (no makeup!) and TIME TO DANCE

Thursday we did a short rehearsal on stage and then I had hair.  Effective as when I got home Mandy thought Ryan Gosling had shown up👦.  Far and away the most "product" I have ever had in my hair.  And, by the way one of the sacrifices for my "art" - letting my hair grow.  Already have an appointmetn to fix that now!!!

A later post will be about the actual show...

AFTER PARTY

Here is the family after the show (in front of the Hippodrome).  I wonder if I had the longest traveling fans (with mom/brother from Nevada, sister/nieces from California).  No, that is not Ryan Gosling (you now get Mandy's confusion).

Mandy is taking the photo, but here we are at the Palladium for the after party, joined by Stephanie.

A SMALL REWARD

After a great family day Friday, I went to Heritage Creamery.  I actually lost around 15 pounds during the course of the DWTWS journey.  This was largely due to motivation from early videos of dance practice - I was definitely getting a bit chubby and so dieted along the way to be as svelte as possible for the show.  These were my weekend rewards for the effort.  SOOOO good!

Welcome to my Dancing With the Waco Stars (DWDTS) Journey

The 8th annual DWDTS  fundraiser for the Waco Family Abuse Center . VIDEO of our dance now posted! How I will always remember this journey...dancing with joy!

A Brief Break in England for Strawberries and Cream

A trip to scout for a study abroad history of statistics course provided a bit of a break from dancing.  My new dance partner, "Bayes"lor Bear? Clearly, punting in Cambridge is important dance preparation. The ballroom of the manor house at Bletchley Park an ideal spot for a quick practice.  In world war two, this room was crowded with the headquarters of the famous code breaking unit. You may recall the movie "The Imitation Game"; I do hope to eventually imitate a dancer (somewhat). Or how about dancing with Big Ben as the backdrop?   You may wonder why I didn't put a hat out... The performance at Chelsea Football Club famous Stamford Bridge stadium was somewhat underwhelming...I was too busy enjoying the visit! But still ends with a flourish: Unfortunately, Christian Pulisic was only days away from no longer playing for the Blues...pretty sure not my fault.😞 AT LAST, the Tate Museum (national art museum that I don't believe is named after Stephanie) provi...
